Third Time’s the Charm – Announcing PhoenixMod Tournament #3

After the second Saturday Night Fight (no drama this time) and the successful release of the launcher, we have finally reached a critical level of maturity in this project and can start focusing on continuous and smooth delivery of peak CoH content. Because we can now conveniently update the game from the back end without worrying about installation/update woes, the sole focus of the mod can be shifted to answer: How do we ride the climax of this project to the fullest. The biggest tournament in the history of the mod is definitely a good place to start. Therefore, I am pleased to announce the biggest prize pool yet:

We are aiming for 500€ this time!

This money is covered by yet-to-be-made donations, so if you like what we’ve built so far and want there to be even more amazing competition on the best (allegedly) CoH mod with a competitive focus, show your support here:

  • Scheduling
    • Players are required to play at least one match per week. Ideally they play more, which helps to accelerate the progress.
    • They can schedule their games during the week freely, but there is a final check-in window each Saturday from 20:00 to 23:00 Berlin Time
    • If scheduling didn’t happen during the week, whoever doesn’t show up for the final check-in will receive a loss
    • This is to give players flexibility but at the same time makes it possible to enforce a certain minimum pace
    • Each match has it’s own Discord channel, where players and admins can communicate and coordinate transparently
  • Casting
    • Replays will be casted each weekend on Saturday and/or Sunday at 20:00 Berlin Time

    • Go full tryhard and not ragequit prematurely
    • Not spoil match results before casts (this includes streaming the matches)
    • Upload the replays in the respective match channels
      • No replay = game didn’t happen. Do not forget saving and uploading the replays!
      • Use the official name format for the replays, both in game and externally. This really helps with the admin workload.
      • Here are 2 examples:
        • “PMT3-GrpA-R1-M2-G3” (this means PhoenixMod Tournament 3, Group A, Round 1, Match 2, Game 2)
        • “PMT3-LB-QF-M1-G2” (this means PhoenixMod Tournament 3, Lower Bracket, Quarter Final, Match 1, Game 2)
  • Verificaton of matches / anti-cheat measures
    • Players need to either
      • Screenshot opponent’s base (preferably at match start) and upload it to the respective discord channel
      • Record a video (can be low fps) and upload to YouTube etc. where admins can check
    • Not complying with any of these is grounds for auto-loss and/or disqualification
  • Crashes, power/internet outages, etc. will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis under extreme scrutiny

Gameplay rules
